Mammootty is without any doubt one of the best actors in India right now. The range that he shows with such a diverse filmography is extraordinary. ‘Puzhu’ is one of his films that is wonderful but is still not much talked about.
Mammotty plays the role of Kuttan, a strange man who justifies his toxic traits by showing reasons that he always means well. He hates his sister’s husband because he does not belong to his caste. He has a weird chemistry with his son, whom he forces to recount everyday in his life in detail and then watches an old home video. He also suspects that someone is behind his life. When this suspicion comes to his mind, he starts distrusting everyone around him.
Malayalam films have never failed to surprise us. ‘Puzhu’ is no exception. With subtle performances and wonderful audio-visuals, the movie is a real charm. The cinematography is handled by Theni Eswar and the music of the film is given by popular composer Jakes Bejoy. It is directed by debutant filmmaker Ratheena PT and the screenplay is from Harshad and Suhas-Sharfu.
