Ever since it hit theatres, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has been on the lips of every movie lover. Malayalam cinema continues to deliver sensational, gripping, and out-of-the-box films. In fact, the rise of Mollywood deserves to be studied closely by other Indian film industries (you know who you are… just kidding!). But on a serious note, now that the dust is settling on its record-breaking theatrical run, a fierce new battle has begun: the fight for its digital rights.
It seems like every major streamer wants a piece of Lokah. While producer Dulquer Salmaan has wisely insisted the film won’t rush to OTT and will enjoy a proper theatrical run, the intense speculation about where it will eventually land has sparked deep anxiety among its massive fan base.
Some reports online claim that Lokah’s digital rights have already been sold to JioHotstar. That’s not true, no official confirmation has been made by the makers. Still, the rumour has set off a storm on social media, where a large section of Indian OTT viewers are openly pleading for this Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer not to land on JioHotstar.
These complaints don’t come from malice toward the platform, but from a desperate plea for a seamless viewing experience.
Atleast it should've been Amazon Prime…. JioHotstar is like the worst place for Lokah to go.
Such a stupid decision why are they doing this. https://t.co/mOV2aHTczT

@dulQuer i donno if it's #Lokah, but if it's really being sold to JioHotstar, that's a terrible move, seriously. We get that money's important, @DQsWayfarerFilm, but the viewing experience and reach on @NetflixIndia is just way better n you know that @dulQuer more than anyone https://t.co/HPuUzZckFc

Ever since it entered the market as a merged entity, JioHotstar has been facing constant criticism from viewers, whether it’s the relentless ad frequency, technical glitches like buffering and lag, poor audio and video quality, clunky user interface, problems with downloaded content, or other frustrations.
The outcry is bigger than just platform preference, it’s proof of how deeply Lokah has resonated. Fans want to cherish the film properly, and honestly, who can blame them? OTT audiences deserve to enjoy Lokah in the best possible way. But providing an immersive, high-quality streaming experience is one area where JioHotstar has long struggled.
As the production team keeps its cards close, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Will Lokah end up on a platform that prioritizes mass reach at the expense of quality?
Or will the team listen to its passionate fans and choose a service known for technical stability and ad-free cinematic streams, securing Lokah’s legacy as a true phenomenon, on the big screen and at home?
The fans have spoken. The ball is now firmly in the hands of the Lokah team. Stay tuned for more updates.
