No matter how well received a feature is, it is not common for a film to gross milestones along the likes of 100 Million watching minutes! Such was the case with ‘Nunakkhuzhi’.
The 2024 crime drama comedy Malayalam-language film, directed by Jeethu Joseph, recently achieved a considerable feat: 100 million streaming minutes on its streaming platform ZEE5! The light-hearted title, featuring Basil Joseph, Grace Antony, Nikhila Vimal, Swasika, Baiju Santhosh, and more, explores the nuanced complexities of family responsibilities through a comedic storyline.
Not only did this seem to resonate deeply with audiences, it also called for a celebration, after having achieved the milestone. This was commemorated by unveiling a one-of-its-kind poster in all its grandeur, during a sporting event, which was also attended by the Minister of Education & Labour of Kerala, V Shivankutty.
The plot follows Eby, a carefree individual who is struggling with family responsibilities in the aftermath of his father’s demise. The plot really gets going, however, when a private video of him and his wife is confiscated in an Income Tax raid, leading to a series of mishaps involving the quirky characters.
This statistic also translates to the fact that the film has been streamed at an average of 8 Lakh times! This just goes to prove that the audiences are getting over the divides of language and culture, only to appreciate the quality of an original, well crafted story!
