Malayalam black comedy drama ‘Sookshmadarshini’ got tremendous response from both critics and public when it released in theatres in November last year and ever since audience has been waiting for its digital debut.
Since it did drop on OTT after the standard four week window, there were various anticipations about ‘Sookshmadarshini’s’ premiere on OTT. There were also some commercial concerns raised by the film’s producer regarding the digital release.
But it all seems to be sorted now as ‘Sookshmadarshini’ prepares to launch on Disney+ Hotstar on this Saturday on 11th January, 2025 in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu.
Directed by M. C. Jithin, ‘Sookshmadarshini’ is a black comedy mystery thriller and follows Priyadarshani who grows suspicious of the intentions of her new neighbour Manuel who returns with his mother to their former home in a middle class neighbourhood. The former, along with her friends begins to gather clues about the latter as she is convinced he may be hiding something sinister.
‘Sookshmadarshini’ stars Basil Joseph and Nazariya Nazim, who makes a return to Malayalam film industry after a four year hiatus.
The best aspects of ‘Sookshmadarshini’ have to be its brilliant and clever writing along with a great cast who deliver phenomenal performances. The film has received immense praise for maintaining balance between mystery and comedy and not letting one overpower the other. Moreover, it also became one of the highest grossing Malayalam film of 2024.
