The advent of the ever-growing OTT industry has brought along with it the exponential popularization of up-and-coming OTT platforms. Especially those that are more region-oriented and largely foster regional content. One such not-so-old OTT platform, launched back in 2019 is Manorama Max.
Sure, the first Malayalam only OTT platform sounds lucrative on paper, but the truth of the matter is that it targets a very limited audience. Considering the fact that it is a regional platform, it loses its edge to bigger and more prominent platforms like Prime Video and Netflix that stream similar content, but in multiple languages.
Which is to say, one means that regional platforms like Manorama Max can follow is to develop authentic dubbed versions of films that have been received well by the audience, and then, loan it to other platforms with a bigger reach, to co-stream. Not only will this promote the general idea behind the platform, which is promoting good regional cinema, it will also introduce Malayalam-language films to a wider array of viewers.
It is a fact well acknowledged that storylines from Malayalam content are extremely well-crafted and gripping. So now that half the work is already done, which is making people recognize the worth of original stories, the only thing left to do is market them accordingly!
