24 Meets Hangover In Cobra Kai Makers’ New Netflix Show ‘Obliterated’

Netflix has picked up ‘Obliterated’, an action comedy series from the creators of Emmy nominated series ‘Cobra Kai’ and this time it ain’t anything about martial arts. ‘Obliterated’ was previously ordered by Warner Bros’ TBS in late 2019 but after it pulled away post the Warner Media-Discovery merger, the series has now landed in Netflix’s kitty.

‘Obliterated’ looks like a unique crossover between action drama ‘24’ and comedy trilogy ‘Hangover’. The high octane action-comedy tells the story of an elite special forces team who thwarts a deadly threat to Las Vegas. After their celebratory party, filled with booze, drugs and sex, the team discovers that the bomb they deactivated was a fake. The now intoxicated team has to fight through their impairments, overcome their personal issues, find the real bomb, and save the world.

Consisting of eight forty-five minute episodes, ‘Obliterated’ is showrun by Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald who also serve as Executive Producers alongside Dina Hillier via Counterbalance Entertainment production banner.

Sony Pictures Television has an overall deal with Counterbalance and is the studio for the series whose casting is underway. ‘Obliterated’ is planned to start production this summer with Hurwitz, Schlossberg and Heald set to direct multiple episodes.
