Popular filmmaker Danny Boyle has announced the star cast for his upcoming project. It is titled ‘28 Years Later’ and it will be the first movie in the new trilogy and also serve as the sequel to ‘28 Days Later’. The movie will be produced under the banner of Sony Pictures.
Aaron Taylor Johnson will be playing the lead role in the movie and Joddie Comer will play the female lead. Ralph Fiennes will have an important role in the movie too. The screenplay is written by ‘Civil War’ director Alex Garland and Danny Boyle. Danny Boyle is known for directing movies like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘Trainspotting’.
The first movie of the franchise starred Cillian Murphy and it came out in 2002. ‘28 Days Later’ told the story of a man who wakes from a coma to find out that the world has been infested by zombies. Boyle and Alex Garland did not, however, direct the second film in the series. ‘28 Weeks Later’ was another Zombie apocalypse film and was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. It starred actors like Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau etc.
28 Years Later will be a direct sequel to 28 Days Later and be the start of a new series. Alex Garland and Danny Boyle will also be producing the movie.
