Gehraiyaan is the latest addition to Prime Video amongst Indian titles. The film received highly positive response from critics and even from the audience to a great extent. So much so that the film preceded Chiyaan Vikram’s Mahaan by trending on number one. Even though Mahaan was enjoying much more buzz than Gehraiyaan.
The complex characters portrayed with utmost ease is something Deepika Padukone is getting appreciation for. Even the audience is praising the film but there are a few factors that did not go well with the audience.
We are going to talk about those factors that are the reason for Gehraiyaan getting trolled.
Extensive Usage Of Cuss Words
It is a fact that Gehraiyaan is an urban tale and a lot of dialogues are in English. Needless to say the makers made a really extensive use of the “F” word. And yes, it is a big con as the redundancy seems to annoy the viewers. The writers need to understand that using the same word in every third sentence does not make the film sound more cool.
Showcase Of Adultery
Adultery is a subject that is always debated. When the path-breaking film Guide released in 1965 or even Silsila in 1981, the debate was hard. Guide was an insanely grand success and so is Gehraiyaan but in a much different way. We need to understand the subjectivity of people in such topics.
Needless to say, we are far from reaching any conclusion anytime soon. But this one thing that is getting trolled but many people are totally cool with it.
Too Many Plot Holes (SPOILER ALERT)
We can’t possibly talk about this factor without spoilers so read at your own risk.
Tia was too naive and Police was too dumb for the death case of Zain. We can be assured about the police factor but Tia was indeed too naive. She didn’t mind Zain and Alisha spending a lot of time and she didn’t even bother to check the number when she initially started doubting Zain.
Also, the film ended on a loop where the old lady recognised Alisha from the yacht incident. Thus it left us at a cliffhanger from where a sequel can be possible.
But Gehraiyaan was anything but a crime thriller so if the police angle was left untouched then it is not a big deal especially if the film is left on a cliffhanger.
Thus yet again, Karan Johar has given another success on OTT and though Gehraiyaan is filled with issues, it turns out to be a worthy one time watch.
