A new season of Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive to Survive is almost here. Season 4 of Drive to Survive is set to release on Friday 11 March 2022. The show will have a total of 10 episodes covering the 2021 F1 Season. As far as sports documentaries are concerned, Drive to Survive is one of the most highly rated shows today.
As fans await the upcoming season, they can check out the following popular documentaries based on sports other than Formula 1:
1) The Last Dance: (Basketball)
The Last Dance is a 2020 sports documentary miniseries co-produced by ESPN Films and Netflix. The series builds around the career of basketball player Michael Jordan. The documentary uses never before aired footage from the 1997-98 season, Jordan’s final season with Chicago Bulls. Michael Jordan is one of the all-time great basketball players. The show received a lot of critical acclaim. It won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. It is regarded as one of the best sports documentaries to watch.

2) The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team: (Cricket)
The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team, also known as The Test, is a TV docu-series, produced for Amazon Prime Video. The docu-series follows the Australia men’s cricket team’s path to redemption after it was rocked by a cheating scandal in a test match in 2018 where a couple of players were found to be tampering with the ball. It tracks the progress of the team under the captaincy of Tim Paine with the joint effort under Justin Langer who was appointed as the head coach of the Australian cricket team in 2018. Ironically, neither Langer nor Paine are part of the team today both having parted ways under their own controversial circumstances.

3) Sunderland ‘Til I Die: (Football)
Produced by Fulwell 73 (named as a homage to Sunderland A.F.C. by its founders), the series documents the events around English football club Sunderland A.F.C. There are two seasons of the show released till date. The first season documents Sunderland’s 2017–18 season. It takes viewers through the highs and lows of the club’s season in the Championship (the second tier in English Club football) following its relegation from Premier League (the top tier) in the previous year. The success of the first season led to the producers releasing a second season which focussed on the 2018-19 season. The show has been praised for capturing the fans’ connection with the club and focussing on them as well along with the club.
