A total of 4 Telugu and Tamil films are arriving on OTT this week. The list includes Mahaan, Malli Modalaindi, Hero, and Bhamakalapam. Barring Her, the other three films are direct to OTT releases and they are all gearing up for digital premieres this weekend.
This Karthik Subbaraj directorial is one of the most awaited outings in the Indian OTT space this weekend. This film marks the coming together of father-son duo Chiyaan Vikram and Dhruv Vikram. The trailer of Mahaan, which was unveiled recently looked promising and it sets the stage for the film’s arrival on OTT. But again, Karthik Subbaraj’s films always have winning trailers but tend to disappoint as far as the actualt content in the film goes. It remains to be seen what he has in store with Mahaan this time around. Mahaan premieres on Amazon Prime on the 10th of this month.
This comedy drama has Sumanth Akkineni and Naina Ganguly in the lead roles. The film revolves around Sumanth, a divorcee, who falls in love with his ex wife’s divorce attorney. The film’s direct to digital rights were acquired by ZEE5 and it will be made available for streaming on the platform from the 11th of this month. The traler didn’t look all that promising. But we need to wait and see what the film has to offer.
Hero
The film marks the debut of Ashok Galla, the nephew of Tollywood supertar Mahesh Babu. Hero hit the silver screens this Sankranthi season and it was a washout when it comes to box office returns. The action comedy now gears up for its OTT premieres as it arrives on Disney+ Hotstar on the 11th of this month.
Bhamakalapam has Priyamani in the lead role and it arrives on Aha Video on the 11th of this month. The comedy drama has Priyamani playing a YouTube cook, who happens to get her hands on a stolen antique piece worth Rs 200 crores. The concept is designed by Bharat Kamma, who previously helmed Dear Comrade. The trailer of the film was okayish. Films like these tend to strike a chord only if they have convincing screenplay. We need to wait till 11th February to know what this film has in store for us.
