5 Films with Preity Zinta’s Underrated Performances to Watch on OTT

Effervescent Indian actress Preity Zinta has turned 47 today. On the occasion of her birthday, we have compiled a list of five films that featured underrated performances from her. All these movies are currently streaming on various Indian OTT platforms.

Dil Se.. (Streaming on Netflix)

Preity Zinta had delivered a surprisingly nuanced performance considering this was her debut film. Helmed by veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam, the film revolved around the unusual romance between an AIR radio broadcaster (Shah Rukh Khan) and an enigmatic woman (Manisha Koirala) burdened with a dark past. Preity Zinta played the role of SRK’s potential bride.

Sangharsh (Streaming on Eros Now)

Helmed by Tanuja Chandra, this psychological thriller movie featured Preity Zinta as a CBI officer Reet Oberoi and revolved around her mission to nab the culprit behind a series of child kidnappings and murders executed by a religious fanatic (Ashutosh Rana). She takes the help of a genius man called Professor Aman Verma (Akshay Kumar) who is lodged in jail.

Kya Kehna (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Voot, MX Player)

Filmmaker Kundan Shah, who had made the cult film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ in 1983, had directed this intense social drama. The film delves upon the sensitive issue of pre-marital pregnancy and narrates the story of how a cheerful and carefree woman (Preity Zinta) succumbs to the charms of an affluent man (Saif Ali Khan) and must deal with society after becoming a mother without being married.

Armaan (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

Directed by Honey Irani, the film is a medical drama that was also screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The plotline is about a dedicated doctor (Anil Kapoor) and how circumstances unwillingly coerce him to make the decision of marrying an arrogant and spoilt brat (Preity Zinta), in the pursuit to fulfill his father’s (Amitabh Bachchan) dream of building a hospital.

Lakshya (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video)

Set against a fictionalized backdrop of the Kargil War, this Farhan Akhtar’s directorial follows the story of a carefree character Karan Shergill (Hrithik Roshan), and how a series of incidents transforms him into a committed soldier hellbent on achieving a virtually impossible mission for his country. Preity Zinta had adeptly enacted the character of a fearless journalist in the film.
