The Count Of Monte Cristo, 2002 (Streaming on YouTube, Apple TV – Rent)
Based on Alexandre Dumas’s novel, the movie features Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest) as a peace-loving, young sailor Edmond, who is betrayed by his best friend Fernand (Guy Ritchie) and is sent to an island prison because the latter wants to marry Edmond’s girlfriend. But Edmonds decides to escape prison and plans to take revenge for the injustice.
Mom, 2017 (Streaming on Netflix, Zee5)
After her stepdaughter is violently assaulted by four persons and left for dead, her stepmother (Sridevi) makes it her mission to bring the culprits to justice in an equally brutal way. To complete her mission, she takes the help of an eccentric but resourceful private detective (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). This gritty revenge thriller also featured Akshaye Khanna in the role of a cop.
The Mask Of Zorro, 1998 (Streaming on Aha Video)
Directed by Martin Campbell (Golden Eye, Casino Royale), the period action-adventure movie features Antonio Banderas in the role of a drunkard Alejandro, who wants to avenge his brother’s murder. He is discovered by the once-legendary masked hero Zorro (Antonio Banderas), who is on a mission of his own. The film also features Catherine Zeta Jones.
Django Unchained, 2012 (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video)
Helmed by ‘Kill Bill’ director Quentin Tarantino and set in the year 1858, the film features Jamie Foxx in the titular role of a freed slave named Django Freeman. He teams up with a German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) to free his wife from the clutches of a cruel plantation owner (Leonardo Di Caprio).
Upgrade, 2018 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video – Rent)
The science fiction action movie follows the story of a mechanic named Grey, whose wife was killed after a mugging incident, and which also left him paralyzed. Soon after, a billionaire offers a now suicidal and helpless Grey the golden chance to walk again with the help of a highly advanced chip. After the procedure, the protagonist gains superhuman strength and decides to exact revenge for his wife’s murder.
