Movie buffs might already be aware that the upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer espionage thriller ‘Bell Bottom’ is geared up for a theatrical release on 19th August. The period film, which is said to be inspired by true events, follows Akshay Kumar’s undercover RAW agent titular character who is brought in to rescue hostages after a plane is hijacked. 1. Bollywood Actress Lara Dutta’s stunning transformation (by the supremely talented make-up artist Vikram Gaikwad) for the part of Mrs. Indira Gandhi was the talk of the town when the film’s trailer came out.
However, the former Miss Universe had recently also revealed interesting information regarding her connection with the former Prime Minister. She had said that her father – retired Wing Commander L.K. Dutta had flown the Prime Minister on multiple occasions on her official trips across the country. His interactions with the PM acted as a reference point for Lara Dutta to imbibe the mannerisms of the politician. Incidentally, ‘Bell Bottom’ is Lara Dutta’s ninth film with Akshay Kumar.
2. ‘Bell Bottom’ was the first Bollywood film to commence its filming schedule amidst the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
3. The movie’s principal photography began on the 20th day in the month of August 2020 amidst the pandemic. It seems to be an interesting coincidence, or perhaps destiny, that ‘Bell Bottom’ is scheduled for a theatrical release precisely a year later, that is, on 19th August 2021.
4. ‘Bell Bottom’ is Vaani Kapoor’s first feature film project that has not been produced by the reputed Yash Raj banner. Her previous films namely ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, Tamil film ‘Aaha Kalyanam’, ‘War’, and ‘Befikre’ were all associated with the Yash Raj banner. Vaani Kapoor has reportedly played the role of the wife of Akshay Kumar’s character in the film.
5. ‘Bell Bottom’ is also the name of a Kannada language comedy crime movie that was released in the year 2019. Besides the name, there seems to be no other correlation between these two films.
