With the ever-growing content libraries of OTT giants like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney Plus Hotstar, etc., you may have already seen most of the popular Hollywood films streaming on these platforms. But alongside their blockbuster counterparts, there are many movies streaming on the same platforms which are comparatively less popular, nevertheless, are brilliantly made films.
For this article, we have compiled a list of five such relatively less popular yet brilliant Hollywood movies that are currently streaming on various Indian OTT platforms.
Hereafter (Streaming on Google Play, YouTube, Apple TV)
‘Hereafter’ is one of those rare, underrated, and soulful supernatural movies which have their hearts in the right place. It’s a beautifully told story directed by legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood. The film follows three parallel stories of a blue-collar American with a unique ability (Matt Damon), a French journalist (Cécile de France), and a London schoolboy (Frankie and George McLaren) and how their lives intersect. A must-watch, emotional film for cinephiles across the world.
Captain Fantastic (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
This fantastic and thought-provoking drama features the supremely talented performer Viggo Mortenson as an eccentric genius who raises his six children in isolation and away from society. He provides intense physical and intellectual training to the children. However, an unfortunate incident forces him to reintegrate into society and sparks fly when the two worlds collide.
The Man from Earth (Streaming on Plex, Tubi)
A truly engaging sci-fi mystery film that’s mostly shot in just one room. The story revolves around a farewell get-together for outgoing Professor John Oldman. During the farewell party, the professor makes an astounding confession about who he actually is. The intriguing intellectual arguments that follow thereafter forms the crux of this unique movie. A rare gem that deserves your attention.
The Next Three Days (Streaming on Lionsgate Play)
The movie revolves around a working woman (played by Elizabeth Banks) who is imprisoned for a crime, she apparently did not commit, and her husband (played by Russel Crowe) must find a way to get her ‘released’ from the prison. The riveting thriller helmed by Paul Haggis (In The Valley of Elah) also featured a delightful cameo from ‘Taken’ star Liam Neeson.
Changeling (Streaming on Netflix)
This is incidentally the second movie on this list that is directed by Clint Eastwood. The period mystery film follows a single mother (Angelina Jolie) in 1920s Los Angeles and her quest to find her nine-year-old missing son. A few months later, the police department inform her that they have found her son but the mother claims that the boy is an imposter.
