It has been a week since the year turned and already there have been some exciting announcements so far – be it new films, TV shows, sporting events, concerts, etc. With another 350 days remaining and the Covid pandemic still persisting in various parts of the world in varying degrees, there is a good chance that a lot of these events will only be available for streaming. So out of all the things that will happen in 2022, here are 5 movies, TV shows and events that you cannot miss (and how to stream them):
The Winter Olympics
The 2022 Winter Olympics is the first Olympic event that will begin on its set date since the coronavirus pandemic spread around the globe. The sporting competition will take place in Beijing and it will be available for streaming on SonyLIV. The event will take place in February for a period of 17 days – from 4th to 20th Feb.
The Boys Season 3
One of the most-watched shows of recent times, this dark superhero fantasy series returns on Amazon Prime Video in May 2022. Hughie, Billy Butcher, Homelander, Annie, Mother’s Milk and the rest of the gang will be making a triumphant return and we can’t wait to see where the show will take us next.
The Gray Man
This Netflix film has been in the works for some time now. Based on the 2009 novel by Mark Greaney of the same name, this brilliant multi starrer is expected to drop on the OTT platform by June/July 2022. But what has got a lot of Indians excited is that this massive venture will also include the Indian superstar, Dhanush. Also, this film is the most expensive Netflix film to date, said to be costing nearly USD 200 million.
Lord of The Rings
Finally, the show about Middle Earth is here. Unlike the ‘Hobbit’ and the ‘Lord of The Rings’ movie series which is set in the Third Age, this web series will be set in the Second Age – almost 1000 years before the events of the two film series. This highly anticipated web series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in September 2022.
The FIFA World Cup
The most-watched International sporting event is back and will begin in November 2022. The 2022 FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar and it will be streaming on SonyLIV. A few more teams have yet to be chosen for the World Cup with final qualifiers going to take place in the last week of March (which will be streaming on SonyLIV as well).
Obviously there are a lot more other major movies, TV shows and events happening around the globe other than the aforementioned five, but these mentioned ones are currently the most anticipated ones that will be available for streaming in India. We will make new lists as the months pass by.
