Last two weeks, we had given our readers two lists of five well-made action movies that came out in the 1990s period. Many hardcore movie buffs, more particularly those who were born in the new millennium might have missed watching some of them. In a follow-up to the first two articles, we have compiled another list of five action flicks from the 90s which you can watch on Indian OTT platforms.
Mission: Impossible (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video)
This was the first film that kicked off the blockbuster ‘Mission: Impossible’ spy film series. Set six years after the events of Bruce Geller’s hit television series, the film features Tom Cruise as the Impossible Missions Force (IMF) agent Ethan Hunt, who is on the run from his own agency after a botched-up mission that makes him a murder suspect. The daredevil agent races against time to clear his name and nab the real culprit. The film was helmed by legendry filmmaker Brian De Palma.
Con Air (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)
The film featured Nicolas Cage as a paroled former army ranger Cameron Poe. He unwillingly becomes a part of a prison escape plan masterminded by genius criminal The Virus (John Malkovich) while abord the prison transport plane called Con Air. Now, Cameron must use his skills with the help of U.S. Marshal Vince Larkin (John Cusack) to foil the escape plan.
Face/Off (Streaming on Disney+Hotstar)
Directed by John Woo, the film features John Travolta as an FBI agent Sean Archer, who undergoes a facial transplant surgery to disguise himself as terrorist Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage). He uses his new face to prevent a bomb attack. Things take an interesting turn when Castor Troy wakes up without a face.
Air Force One (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)
When the U.S. President’s official plane Air Force One is hijacked by terrorists, President James Marshall (Harrison Ford), who is also a war veteran and former helicopter rescue pilot, fights back to get his plane back and save everyone aboard including his own family.
The World Is Not Enough (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
While the film may not be considered amongst the highest-rated James Bond movies, it’s nevertheless an entertaining one. The story revolves around MI6 agent 007’s (Pierce Brosnan) mission to protect Elektra King (Sophie Marceau) following the murder of her oil magnate father by a high-tech terrorist named Renard (Robert Carlyle).
