Many hardcore movie buffs, more particularly those who were born in the new millennium might have missed some well-made thriller movies which came out in the 1990s. So, today, we thought of compiling a list of some Hollywood thriller movies from the 90s. We have tried to include a blend of popular films and some relatively underrated ones.
Primal Fear, 1996 (Streaming on Netflix)
A hotshot Chicago lawyer (Richard Gere) takes up a difficult case where a shy and stammering altar boy (Edward Norton) has been accused of murder of a well-respected priest. As the defence attorney tries to win the pro-bono case, he discovers a shocking aspect about his client’s personality.
Single White Female, 1992 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video – Rent)
The movie follows a fashion designer Allison (Bridget Fonda), who publishes an ad to rent a room after she breaks off with her cheating boyfriend. She finds a seemingly perfect roommate Hedra (Jennifer Jason Leigh), but things begin to get strange when Allison tries to give her boyfriend another chance.
Cape Fear, 1991 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
Helmed by Martin Scorsese, the psychological thriller movie revolves around a violent and sadistic rapist Max Cady (Robert De Niro), who gets released from the prison after serving a fourteen-year sentence. He decides to stalk and destroy the family of the defence lawyer (Nick Nolte), who Max thinks was the reason behind his imprisonment.
In The Line Of Fire, 1993 (Streaming on Netflix)
The story revolves around an aging Secret Service Agent Frank Horrigan (Clint Eastwood), who is taunted by a disillusioned yet ingenious assassin about his plans to assassinate the President. Horrigan, who is ridden with the guilt of his past failure to save President Kennedy, makes it his mission to track the assassin to redeem his past mistake.
Cube, 1997 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Lionsgate Play)
The film is an engaging sci-fi thriller that follows a group of disparate strangers who wake up to find themselves in a massive cube with possibly hundreds of rooms filled with traps. They must team up together and use their unique skills in order to escape the seemingly infinite and deadly maze.
