Abhishek Kapoor’s on-screen adaption of Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’, ‘Kai Po Che’ (which means ‘I have cut’ in Gujarati) narrates the story of these three friends who set out to open a sports shop and a sports academy amidst the backdrop of harrowing events. Although it’s a film with cricket being an important plot point, the movie is essentially an endearing story of three friends (brilliantly played by Sushant Singh Rajput along with Rajkumar Rao and Amit Sadh).

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

Helmed by Dibakar Banerjee, the adeptly executed mystery thriller starring Sushant Singh Rajput in the role of the legendary detective Byomkesh Bakshy starts off as a regular whodunnit. However, the scale of the beautifully complex story exponentially expands as the film progresses. Despite being a taut thriller blessed with a magnificent period look, the ambitious undertaking failed to ignite the box office. Nevertheless, it’s arguably the best performance of the Sushant Singh Rajput.

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)

A Neeraj Pandey’s directorial, the film chronicled Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s incredible journey from a ticket collector to the world-cup-winning Indian cricket captain. This was the second time the actor had essayed the role of a cricketer. The film went on to achieve immense critical and commercial success and Sushant Singh Rajput’s portrayal of Dhoni’s body language and get-up was commendable.

Sonchiriya (Streaming on Zee5)

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey and set against the backdrop of the Chambal valley during the 1970s, the film revolves around a gang of dacoits (played by Manoj Bajpayee, Sushant Singh Rajput, and Ranvir Shorey). When their gang leader gets killed, the remaining gang members are on the run from the cops. They come across a brutally assaulted girl called Sonchiriya and decide to help her. Although the film failed to ignite the box office albeit was critically acclaimed and is a must-watch was diehard cinema buffs and for its lead performances including Sushant Singh Rajput.

Chhichhore (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)

Chhichhore’ was Sushant Singh Rajput’s last theatrical release and was helmed by ‘Dangal’ director Nitesh Tiwari. The film follows the story of a middle-aged man (Sushant Singh Rajput) who tries to instill hope in his son, who has barely survived a suicide attempt, by recounting his own story as a loser in a series of flashbacks. The movie was a box-office blockbuster and had also won a National Award.
