Helmed by Vishal Furia, the Marathi film features Pooja Sawant in the lead role and follows a pregnant woman who escapes along with her husband to a remote village in a house that is surrounded by eerie sugarcane fields. The woman soon begins to experience some strange phenomenon and past secrets begin to unravel during her quest to investigate the mystery. It was remade in Hindi with the title ‘Chhorii’.
Bhediya, 2022 (Streaming on Jio Cinema)
The movie features Varun Dhawan as a man who gets bitten by a wolf and begins to transform into a werewolf and goes on a killing spree. He tries to find a cure for his peculiar condition with the help of his ragtag bunch of friends. The movie also stars Kriti Sanon, Abhishek Banerjee, and Deepak Dobriyal in important roles.
Bulbbul, 2020 (Streaming on Netflix)
Set in the nineteenth century, the movie follows a five-year-old child bride Bulbbul (played by Tripti Dimri) and her growing friendship with her husband’s (Rahul Bose) youngest brother Satya (Avinash Tiwary). Bulbbul’s life takes an unexpected turn when Satya is sent to London by her jealous husband. When he comes back twenty years later, he finds an eerie change in Bulbbul’s personality and also investigates mysterious killings happening in the village.
Paheli, 2005 (Streaming on Netflix)
Directed by Amol Palekar, the supernatural romantic drama follows the story of a village girl Lachchi (Rani Mukerji), who gets married to the son (Shah Rukh Khan) of an affluent businessman. When the husband departs for a business trip right after their marriage, Lachchi is visited by a ghost who falls in love with her and takes the place of the husband.
