5 Must-Watch Movies to Watch on Father’s Day on OTT Platforms

5 Must-Watch Movies to Watch on Father’s Day on OTT Platforms

At the outset, we wish all the wonderful fathers out there an awesome and entertaining Father’s Day today. On this occasion, we have compiled for our readers a list of five must-watch Indian and foreign movies spanning multiple genres which fathers can watch with their kids and vice-versa on Indian OTT platforms. Happy Bingeing!

Masoom, 1983 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Zee5, Mubi, Shemaroo Me)

Helmed by Shekhar Kapur, the movie’s storyline revolves around how a happily married couple’s lives are overturned when the illegitimate son (Jugal Hansraj) of the husband (Naseeruddin Shah) suddenly enters the family. Whether or not the distressed wife (Shabana Azmi) is able to accept the child as her own, forms the rest of the film’s plot.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari, 2012 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Jio Cinema)

A criminally underrated film that beautifully showcases the father-son relationship. In order to fulfill his gifted son’s dream of playing at the mecca of cricket – the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, the principled and upright Rusy (brilliantly essayed by Sharman Joshi) gets embroiled in the case of a stolen Ferrari of a legendary Indian cricketer.

Helmed by Rajesh Mapuskar (Director – Rudra: The Edge of Darkness), the film is an emotional roller coaster and features honest performances by child actor Ritvik Sahore, Boman Irani, and Paresh Rawal, amongst others.

Captain Fantastic, 2016 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

This fantastic and thought-provoking drama features the supremely talented performer Viggo Mortenson as an eccentric genius who raises his six children in isolation and cut-off from modern society.

He provides intense physical and intellectual training to the children which gives them a unique perspective towards life. However, an unfortunate incident forces the father and his children to reintegrate into society and sparks fly when the two worlds collide.

Jersey, 2022 (Streaming on Netflix) / Jersey, 2019 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV, Sun NXT, MX Player)

The cricket-based drama is an underdog story that revolves around a gifted former cricketer Arjun (played by Shahid Kapoor/Nani), who decides to make a comeback at 36 in order to fulfill his son’s simple wish of buying a jersey. How he desperately tries to revive his sports career despite his wife’s resistance and against all odds, forms the film’s basic plotline.

You can either watch the parent Telugu film or the Hindi remake. Both films have effectively portrayed the emotional undercurrent of an endearing father-son bond adeptly supported by fine performances.

Logan, 2017 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)

Widely regarded as the best X-Men movie, the movie was directed by James Mangold (Director – Ford Vs Ferrari). Set in the near future, the film features Hugh Jackman reprising his role as the enhanced mutant, who is now older and past his prime. He is living a low-key life along with the ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and works as a chauffeur on the Mexican border.

Their lives suddenly take a U-turn when a mysterious girl named Laura, who happens to be Logan’s biological daughter arrives and is in serious trouble. Now, Logan must use whatever he has got to protect Laura at all costs from a powerful and evil corporation who wants her dead.
