A slow-paced Ghibli movie, this is a story of a young unmarried girl who takes a trip to the countryside outside of the bustling city she lives in. This movie will reel in every girl who watches it as it flows through the very crucial dilemmas and topics one goes through in life. Like a trip down memory lane, the movie focuses on various issues like puberty, adolescent period, girl problems, first love troubles, and frustrating math equations. All are shown in this movie as one reminisces the beautiful yet troublesome phase of a woman’s life.
Pom Poko (1994):
This Ghibli movie speaks a lot about environmental issues, animal endangerment, and extinction, and habitat destruction. Famous Japanese folklore animal, “tanuki”, is the highlight of this movie. Their protests against the humankind who were destroying the habitats they lived in were shown in a very light-hearted, comedic manner yet something that could leave an impact on everyone’s mind as they watch the movie. The message that was to be delivered through the movie has been quite well received in the world, amongst the people.
My Neighbour Totoro (1988)
This movie was regarded as a traditional anime and has been one of the most famous Japanese animated movies that introduced the very famous character “totoro” into the world. This movie is considered to be one of Miyazaki’s classics which is a must-watch when one starts watching Ghibli movies. Even though it is considered a children’s movie, this is loved by every age group that has watched. The journey follows the lives of two young girls and their fuzzy next-door neighbor “totoro”.
