Thar, 2022 (Streaming on Netflix)
The Western noir action thriller movie has been helmed by Raj Singh Chaudhary follows a mysterious antique dealer Siddharth (Harshvardhan Kapoor), who visits a secluded village in Rajasthan. In the sleepy desert town, Siddharth encounters a veteran cop (Anil Kapoor) who is investigating a series of gruesome killings that might be connected to him. The movie also features Fatima Sana Shaikh and Satish Kaushik.
Mukkabaaz, (Streaming on Jio Cinema, Zee5)
Anurag Kashyap’s boxing film chronicles the story of an aspiring boxer (Vineet Kumar Singh) who comes in the bad books of the cunning and arrogant boxing federation head (Jimmy Sheirgill). On top of that, the boxer falls in love with the federation head’s niece, which further aggravates their animosity. The only way he could get his lover back is by going back into the ring.
Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, 2023 (Streaming on Zee5)
Helmed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the intense legal drama features Manoj Bajpayee in the role of a diligent and honest sessions court lawyer, who takes up the case of the sexual assault of a minor girl by an influential and popular godman. How he fights an arduous legal battle in court forms the film’s underlying plot.
Ek Thi Daayan, 2013 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
When a magician’s (Emran Hashmi) disturbing past begins to affect his stage performance, he undergoes hypnosis and revisits his childhood days. He eventually learns about the demon caretaker woman (Konkana Sen Sharma) who shattered his childhood. In the present day, when a friendly woman (Kalki Koechlin) enters his life, he gets a strong feeling that the same demon from his childhood is back in his life. It was directed by Kannan Iyer and also featured Huma Qureshi in an important role.
Mardaani, 2014 (Streaming on Google Play, YouTube – Rent)
The film follows the story of a Crime Branch policewoman (played by Rani Mukerji) and her cat and mouse game to catch the main antagonist (played by Tahir Raj Bhasin) behind a child trafficking mafia. Both Rani Mukerji and Tahir Raj Bhasin were praised for their spellbinding performances. The film was directed by Pradeep Sarkar (Director – ‘Parineeta’).
