After a long period of very few interesting titles releasing on Prime Video, the streaming giant is suddenly abuzz with action. In the coming Fridays, starting from tomorrow 31st March, Prime Video will premiere a host of compelling shows and movies worldwide on its platform.
While Prime Video has several titles premiering in the coming weeks, we’ve rounded up the best of the lot for you. Without further ado, here they are –
1. The Power – Series, March 31
In a bizarre twist of nature, suddenly, and without warning, teenage girls develop the power to electrocute people at will. It all begins with a tingle in the girls’ collar bones, and rises into a superpower that can turn the world on its head. The Power stars Toni Collette as Mayor Margot Cleary-Lopez, alongside John Leguizamo, Auli’i Cravalho, Toheeb Jimoh, Josh Charles, Eddie Marsan, Ria Zmitrowicz, Zrinka Cvitešić, Halle Bush, and more.
2. On A Wing And A Prayer – Movie, April 7
The movie is based on an extraordinary true story of faith and survival. On a Wing and a Prayer stars Dennis Quaid as Doug White, a passenger on a plane, who faces the most terrifying situation ever. When the pilot of his aircraft suddenly dies midair, he must safely land the plane and save his entire family from insurmountable danger. Also stars Heather Graham and Jesse Metcalfe.
3. Jubilee – Series, April 7
The Indian Original series Jubilee is a period drama, which looks at the rising Hindi film industry of forties and fifties Bombay, through the lens of deceit, betrayals, manipulation and seduction. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Jubilee stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Sidhant Gupta, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ram Kapoor.
4. Gangs Of Lagos – Movie, April 7
Prime Video’s first African original, Gangs of Lagos is a high-stakes, gritty, and hard-hitting action crime-thriller, centred on a group of childhood friends who each have to navigate destiny, growing up on the bustling streets and neighbourhood of Isale Eko, Lagos. The film stars Tobi Bakre, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Chike Osebuka, Chioma Chukwuka, and Iyabo Ojo, among others.
5. The Marvellous Mrs Maisel Season 5 – Series, April 14
The finale season of the beloved comedy drama, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel Season 5 will see Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) inch ever so close to the success she’s dreamed of as a female stand-up comedian, only to see it slip away from her hands. Also stars Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron, Luke Kirby, Reid Scott, Alfie Fuller, Jason Ralph.
6. Dead Ringers: Series, April 21
Prime Video’s Dead Ringers is a contemporary look at David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller starring Jeremy Irons. The psychological thriller series stars Rachel Weisz in a dual role of twins Elliot and Beverly Mantle, who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic penchant for pushing the boundaries on medical ethics to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront. Also stars Britne Oldford, Poppy Liu, Michael Chernus, Jennifer Ehle, Emily Meade, among others.
7. Citadel – Series, April 28
The much-awaited magnum opus spy series from the Russo Brothers, of Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame and The Gray Man fame. It stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden as elite agents of international spy agency Citadel, which is destroyed by operatives of Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. Left for dead, the duo live under hidden identities, until they along with a former Citadel colleague (played by Stanley Tucci), embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore. Also stars Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile, Ashleigh Cummings, Roland Møller, Caoilinn Springall, among others.
