777 Charlie: An Adorably Fresh Perspective On Human-Canine Connection

Over the years, we have seen a number of national and international films based on the connection between humans and animals, especially puppies. We have seen Teri Meherbaniyan, Haathi Mere Saathi, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! along with international projects like Hachiko, Bolt, I Am Legend etc. But this time, one of most talented film personalities in Kannada film fraternity, Rakshit Shetty is bringing a new and fresh perspective on human-animal bonding and trailer of 777 Charlie validates the same.

777 Charlie is a brain-child of director Kiranraj K who has earlier directed Katha Sangama. The story of 777 Charlie revolves around a butter-colored Labrador who is extremely mischievous as well as adorable with whom you will definitely fall in love at first sight. Throughout the trailer, the way Charlie aka the ‘Lab’ roamed around, it clearly indicated that it is more than capable of surviving on its own in the city. It is also confirmed that Rakshit Shetty will play second fiddle to this supremely adorable canine.

In 10-odd years, Rakshit Shetty has established himself as one of the unique filmmakers for associating himself in movies on urban legends, Indian folklore and a wide variety of other films. His films mostly incorporate nonlinear storylines, extended scenes of dialogue, and references to Indian mythology amongst others. Though he is not the director of 777 Charlie, the ‘Kirik Party’ actor will co-produce the film with GS Gupta as he did for Kirik Party. Also, the makers along with Shetty have released the trailer of 777 Charlie in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi language, indicating to make this film a pan-India venture. The trailer of the film has already reached 4 million views within 24 hours of its release showing the eagerness and the growing anticipation amongst the fans around the movie.

Apart from Rakshit Shetty as Dharma, the film will also feature Sangeetha Sringeri, Raj B Shetty, Danish Sait and Bobby Simha of Jigarthanda fame, who will debut in Kannada cinema for the first time.

The makers of 777 Charlie haven’t yet announced the release date of the film, but it will be a game changer and a pan-India entertainer for sure.
