The 11th edition of the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) will soon take place at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. After two years of pandemic-induced absence, the Dharamshala International Film Festival is back to in-person events this year. DIFF 2022 will be held from 3rd to 6th November, 2022. A total of 80 titles from 32 countries will be screened at the festival, including 21 feature films, 16 documentary films, and 43 short films.
A sizeable contingent of filmmakers will attend DIFF 2022 to present their films in person. An equally large number of film-lovers will throng the film festival to watch the delectable titles on offer at this year’s event. Those who can’t visit the Dharamshala International Film Festival in person need not despair, coz most of the films will be available to watch online after paying a one-time rent on the DIFF website, albeit from November 7th to 13th.
This year’s festival marks the Indian premieres of a number of prestigious titles. Primary among these is Cannes winner ‘Joyland’, the seminal Pakistani film on patriarchy and alternate sexuality. Also to be screened are the much-talked about Indian films, Ajitpal Singh’s ‘Fire in the Mountains’, and Aditya Vikram Sengupta’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Calcutta’. Film-lovers will also be able to watch two excellent Indian documentary films, both multiple festival winners – Sundance winner, ‘Writing With Fire’, and Sundance and Cannes winner, ‘All That Breathes’.
