Talking about the best summertime saga beach film, there is just one prime name, and that is Baywatch. Though the film has gained a reputation for being sloppy in terms of storyline and plot, Baywatch is enjoyable, and that too in a dumb way.
Now, there is a budding sequel.
Fox has secured a script+penalty deal for a reboot of the iconic Baywatch series with Lara Olsen as showrunner. Originally created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz, and Gregory J. Bonann, the series starred David Hasselhoff and aired from 1989 to 1999, later continuing as Baywatch: Hawaii.
Olsen, Berk, Bonann, and Schwartz, the iconic group, will be working as producers, quite experienced names from the Baywatch Movie.
Talking about the official Logline, “Daring ocean rescues, pristine beaches, and iconic red bathing suits are back, along with a whole new generation of Baywatch lifeguards, who navigate complicated, messy personal lives in this action-packed reboot that demonstrates there’s the family you’re born into and the family you find.”
Also, this attempt by Fox isn’t the first time they were diving into the universe of Baywatch; they also aired Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding, a TV reunion movie in 2003.
Now, from the trends of the film, this will obviously be no masterpiece but can definitely satisfy your summertime cravings with slow-motion beach music and a bunch of extremely fit characters. Besides this, there is no official release window yet, but a 2025 release can be expected.
