A Call to Spy: An Ode to the Brave Women of WW 2

Amazon Prime Video has recently announced that the critically acclaimed Spy drama ‘A Call To Spy’ will air on their platform on December 11. This is not only great news for fans of the genre but also every Indian fan as this film marks the international debut of the supremely talented Radhika Apte.

A Call to Spy is the untold story of three defiant and exemplary women who played an essential role in WW II. Britain was becoming desperate at the beginning of WW II, and Churchill had ordered his new spy agency to recruit women as spies. A Call to Spy chronicles the life of three such women Vera Atkins (Stana Katic), Virginia Hall (Sarah Megan Thomas) and Noor Inayat Khan (Radhika Apte) who were meant to infiltrate the enemies. Together these women play an essential part in the history of the war that can never be forgotten.

A Call to Spy is directed by Lydia Dean Pilcher and stars Radhika Apte, Sarah Megan Thomas and Stana Katic in the main leads of the film. We have come a long way in our fight for establishing gender equality, and many today would agree that a woman can do just about anything that a man is capable of, yet, during the old times, women weren’t always given this sort of freedom or faith.

The fact that these women navigated the complex landscape of the war and managed to serve their nation without an iota of fear is something that we should not only appreciate but also learn from. This film is an excellent watch not only for all those ardent cinema lovers but also for every young girl out there who wishes to do something for herself, her country and those around her.

This story and film are living proof that if you are dedicated enough to your cause, nothing can come in your way.
