When it comes to thrillers, few other countries can compete with the quality of Korean productions. Be it in movies or shows, the South Korean industry has come up with some extraordinary stories in recent times. While movies like ‘Parasite’, ‘I Saw The Devil’ and ‘Midnight’ are highly popular, there are some titles that are really underrated and deserve more attention.
‘Night In Paradise’ came out in 2020 and is available to watch on Netflix. The movie tells the story of Tae-gu who is a gangster but is leaving all the shady work behind to clean his life for his sister and nephew. But both of them are soon killed off by some goon who actually targeted Tae-gu. The man swears to take revenge and once again unleashes the beast inside him. After taking down the boss of another gang, he takes refuge in a remote island where he meets Jae-yeon, an ailing lady fighting her inner monsters. The two soon start falling for each other.
‘Night In Paradise’ is written and directed by Park Hoon-jung who is known for his excellent filmography. He wrote ‘I Saw The Devil’ and directed movies like ‘The Tiger’, ‘The Witch 1 & 2′ and more. ‘Night In Paradise’ is filled with wonderful performances by actors like Uhm Tae-goo, Jeon Yeo-been, Cha Seung-won and Lee Ki-young.
