‘A Man Called Otto’ is a story about a recently widowed, bitter, and grumpy man named Otto (played by Tom Hanks), who attempts to take his life but is interrupted by his boisterous neighbours, thereby leading to an unlikely friendship and a drastic change in his life. The movie is based on Swedish author Fredrik Backman’s 2012 novel of the same name.
After its theatrical release earlier this year in January, ‘A Man Called Otto’ garnered decent feedback from critics and audiences. The movie currently holds 69% critics’ score on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score is significantly higher at a highly impressive 97% on the same website. Moreover, on international movies database portal IMDb, ‘A Man Called Otto’ currently holds a user rating of 7.4/10.
