A Much Needed Recap- Netflix’s Money Heist Season 2!

We are going on with a series of recaps to bring back all the memories of Money Heist so that you are well prepared for what is about to hit you this Friday. If you are a fan of Money Heist, you will definitely know that Season 5 Volume 1 is releasing on the 3rd of September and everyone seems to be all geared for the mega premiere of the much-awaited Season 5.

Now, since we have already done the recap of Season 1 and if you haven’t seen it, read it here, let’s get on with the recap of Money Heist Season 2.

Money Heist Season 2, begins from where it exactly ended. By now, we know The Professor is in love with Raquel but is on the verge of blowing his cover. The team is somewhere halfway done with the heist, Police are nowhere near finding who this bunch of robbers are and ready to take some serious action. The hours are closing in; they need to escape the tunnel as soon as possible.

As the money printing game is going on full-fledged along with the tunnel digging activity, the Professor on the other hand is in deep trouble. In the last season, Raquel and her team come across the villa in Toledo that the team used to train. This is the place Raquel takes Professor with and just when we thought the cover’s blown, we see a flashback as to how the Professor had even formed a plan for the moment when the house is discovered. Everything inside is burned, but a small piece of evidence stays behind and that might be the end for the team and Professor.

Professor somehow escapes the place and beats up Raquel’s ex-husband who was responsible for finding the evidence. This though gets him in trouble with the police and the Professor is in custody. But he even has a plan for that, he somehow easily escapes. Angel, Raquel’s loyal colleague who has been hospitalized after a deadly accident, spills some secrets and this makes Raquel question a lot of things. Even though she feels like with the secrets spilled by Angel, she might be able to catch the professor, the professor, in reality, beats her to it and free from everything and back to his basement.

This all happened for some time, and that left the team inside the mint wondering if Professor’s location had been compromised. A struggle for leading the team ensues between Berlin and Tokyo, as to what should be done next. This results in Berlin throwing Tokyo out and finally, she is captured by the police. To revolt against the Professor and bring back his love, Rio gets together with the hostages and starts releasing them, but just then Professor calms him down and promises him that he is bringing back Tokyo, and he has a plan in place. This is where Professor’s external team of four Serbians comes in. As Tokyo is on her way to the police station, under extreme rage, she blurts out that the guy Raquel is in love with aka the Professor, his real name is Sergio and not Salva, as he had mentioned to her.

But before Tokyo could reach the place where she would be interrogated, the Serbs break her free and she moves ahead towards the mint to join the team. While she is on a bike, she somehow contacts Rio, to tell him that she will be inside pretty soon. This call gets the police on the mark, as they realize, activities are going around. But, the only way for Tokyo to get into the Mint is through the front door, and to go in from the front door, she needs to beat all the police and their bullets and get in at the perfect timing.

While all this happens, inside the mint, a rampage ends up seriously hurting Oslo. He is almost left in a vegetative state, and Helsinki, who has served alongside Oslo in so many missions, refuses to let him go. It is an emotional and tragic moment as it is like he is letting his brother go. Even though Helsinki knows Oslo won’t ever be the same, he prefers to have some hope but after a lot of thinking and heartbreak, he decides if anyone will let him go, it should be him. Helsinki takes the pillow and suffocates Oslo, which ends up killing him.

Just when they were reeling from this, they realized they had to get Tokyo inside. Tokyo takes a leap of faith and just as the team of robbers opens the doors of the Mint, she zooms past the police and successfully gets in unscathed, but while she got in, a few of the team members were at the door shooting the police, and this resulted in Moscow getting critically injured. Even though they operate on him, Moscow isn’t able to make it and we lose both Moscow and Oslo in the same season.

Now, with Moscow and Oslo gone, the main power behind digging the tunnel, the team is left clueless as to what should be done. Professor on the other end is digging his way in with the help of Serbs, to meet the tunnel that’s being dug at the Mint’s end. The team needs to be out soon, the police and military are closing and this is when Raquel who is let off the team under suspicions that she is working with the robbers, finds out the Professor’s basement. But she is taken in by the Serbs, now when the Professor explains as to why he is carrying out the mission and why the heist is necessary, he is ready to kill off Raquel, but she assures him that she loves her and will not tell his location to the police.

But here she is taken in by the police and is made to reveal the details or else she might end up losing her daughter. Before the police can come and take over the Professor’s place, the team finally meets him through the tunnel and now as they plan to go out, Berlin tells them to go ahead while he holds the fort. As they move out, Monica, the one who fell in love with Denver also moves out with the team. As they finally move out, they change their appearance and escape the police too, resulting in a successful heist, but with the death of Oslo, Moscow and Berlin.

Now a year later Raquel, still in love with the professor, goes through the postcards given to her by him. On one of those, she finds coordinates and decides to visit that place. Halfway across the world in the Philippines, when she thought she wouldn’t be seeing Professor ever again, there he was standing and ready to welcome her into the team and start a new life.

This is where the first heist and Season 2 successfully end.
