We are just two days away from the release of Netflix’s hit show Money Heist Season 5. The Volume 1 of Money Heist’s Season 5 is all set to release on the 3rd of September. We are already halfway through the recaps and today shall be the last recap before the show drops.
If you haven’t read our previous recaps of Season 1, 2 and 3, you can read all those recaps one by one, here. So, let’s begin with one of the most intense and emotional Season of Money Heist so far.
Again, like all the other seasons, this season too begins where it was left in Season 3. With a wounded Nairobi, a shot right through her lungs, Nairobi needs immediate assistance. The team is scared, furious and above all the police are closing in. There is no time, Tokyo takes half of the team with her and gets ready to aim and shoot. She doesn’t miss her rage and seeing her best friend Nairobi like that, made that perfect shot. She blew up the tank that was coming in with the rocket launcher.
Now, as Nairobi is losing blood and almost dying, she tells the team and Professor to let her surrender, so that she can at least be treated and that there’s no one hampering the heist. But, the team isn’t giving up yet. Tokyo takes control and thanks to video chat with a doctor in Pakistan, she is able to patch Nairobi up, while she takes out a bit of her lung, affected by the shot. While all this went one, Alicia Sierra, the villain of this heist is torturing Lisbon, in every possible way to give up the hiding place of Professor. From the looks of it, the two already have some beef against each other.
Now, with Nairobi operated, the team again sees a massive rift forming as Palermo and Tokyo fight on who needs to lead. The team unanimously chooses Tokyo and Palermo is tied up in a chair. Even after such major incidents, the gold melting down in the vaults is going on full fledged. They need to act fast to be able to move out soon. With Lisbon out of the zone, Professor and Marseilles, their man outside needs to do a lot more work, than expected as everyone knows Professor, that is well sorted. As Tokyo and the Professor get in contact, Tokyo explains to him why Lisbon can’t be dead, because if she was, she would be news right now. She is being held and when the Professor pieces everything up. He hatches a plan to help Lisbon out and reach the team.
On the other hand, inside the Bank, a coalition is forming. A coalition between Palermo, who is strapped down, is triggering Gandia, the bodyguard for a rebellion. He tells him how he could move himself out of the cuffs, which is possible he dislocates his thumb, and he does exactly the same. Being in the Special forces, Gandia is one of the most lethal enemies for the gang right now. As Gandia moves, he is faced by Rio, who is unable to stop or shoot him, because he is still in his trauma. Gandia moves as fast as possible to his secret bunker, where establishes connection with the police outside and gets ready to take down the team inside.
The first thing he does is he tries to choke the sleeping Nairobi and Helsinki who is looking out for her. But, both are saved as the teammates arrive and Gandia somehow narrowly escapes. On the other hand Lisbon is being threatened with her mother and daughter, who are right now in Asia. Alicia says if she doesn’t give up the locations, she will lose her daughter and mother forever as they will rot away in a jail. Lisbon is conflicted and she cannot decide what to do, this is the moment she badly needs some hope from Professor. While Lisbon is almost on her way to make the call to her mother and daughter, she finds a signal, a watch that is placed in front of her by an assistant. She understands it’s from the Professor and moves away. The assistant was tracked down by Professor and Marseilles and threatened with fake bombs to be an accomplice in the mission and work as mole and he successfully does that. This is the same assistant who tells Professor that Gandia is contacting the police from a bunker inside the Bank. Professor who has his blueprint gets ready to find the bunker and passes the information to Tokyo, but before she is able to tell her friends, she is knocked out and taken in by Gandia.
As Palermo is the reason behind Gandia, being lost now Professor confronts him and mentions there is a punishment waiting for him. Gandia is on the move once again, and this time he lands in the room, which has Nairobi. Nairobi is being held at gunpoint now by Gandia and as we know Nairobi isn’t still well. The team on the outside is doing all they can to get Nairobi out, because they know Nairobi is in a critical condition.
While all this is happening, Professor plans an escape plan for Lisbon. The only way to do so is getting Lisbon in front of the court. He sends Marseilles to Algeria to gather information of how Rio was held captive and how it violates human rights. The video reaches Professor and it is leaked in the media and the plight of Lisbon is also told, as to how she is being denied a chance at the court. Meanwhile, the fight at the Bank gets intense and in a tug of war like situation, Nairobi is shot by Gandia at point blank. This leaves the teammates distraught and Helsinki out of anger, smashes Gandia, which makes it look like he is dead. Nairobi is one of the most essential parts of the team. She needs a grand farewell. She is put in a box and the National Guards inside, escort Nairobi’s body out. This by far is the most emotional scene of the series.
Even though they are held back, they get back up once again. After the revelations of Rio and Lisbon’s capture are made, Lisbon gets to court, but here comes the Serbs, who were part of the first heist, they disguise themselves and get Lisbon out through a tunnel from inside the court. Professor makes it look like Gandia has requested for a military helicopter, but it is all Professor’s planning. Lisbon and Marseilles are up on the helicopter and make a successful landing, despite heavy police firing. Also, while this goes on, Tokyo is saved and is out of the bunker by her teammates and as Lisbon enters the team, they all gather around and promise to complete this mission for Nairobi.
Meanwhile, Alicia Sierra is forced to leave the police after the deadly allegations. She is all alone but still is figuring out Professor’s hideout. After piecing together all the information she has, she finally finds Professor’s hideout and the last scene we see before Season 4 ends is Professor chanting “For Nairobi”, and looking back to see Alicia Sierra is here in his hideout with a gun pointed at him.
This is where we bid farewell to Nairobi, the badass female power of the team, Tokyo’s best friend, the friendliest and most fun person of the team. Now, we all have to look forward as to how she is avenged and how the story goes on with Alicia having the Professor at gunpoint.
