Do you like old Bollywood romances? Are you a fan of Yash Chopra? Then you should watch this evergreen classic directed by the maestro. ‘Daag‘ came out in 1973 and has Rajesh Khanna in the lead role. It also has both Rakhee Gulzar and Sharmila Tagore opposite him as the female leads.
The movie tells the story of a man who marries a very beautiful woman and travels with her in search of a job. The son of his employer misbehaves with his wife and in a quick rift, the son gets killed in his hands. Sunil, the man, is sentenced to death but in another accident, the bus taking him to prison trips over and he is saved. Sonia, his wife does not remarry in spite of the instigation of his family, but starts living as a caretaker in the house of her child’s teacher. One day she finds out that the teacher’s husband is none other than Sunil himself. Sonia is left shocked and many twists follow and the lives of all three characters change forever.
The movie is said to be a loose adaptation of The Mayor Of Casterbridge, but the storyline is nowhere similar. You should watch the movie as a standalone Yash Chopra Classic only. The music of the film is given by Laxmikant, Pyarelaal and it has some beautiful songs. Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore recreate their magical chemistry once again beautifully here.
If you are a fan of romantic movies, you should watch ‘Daag’ with your friends and family without any delay. It is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
