Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans, and Dakota Johnson are in talks to star in Celine Song’s upcoming romantic comedy, Materialists, for A24. The Korean-Canadian director received her breakout directional debut through Past Lives (2023).
The forthcoming rom-com will be a joint production of A24, 2 AM, and Killer Films. A24 will take care of the project’s global release. The film may also premiere at the European Film Market in Berlin.
The filming for A24’s Materialists is expected to commence in May this year.
We do not know what roles Pedro Pascal, Dakota Johnson, and Chris Evans will end up playing in Materialists. Song confirmed that her next directional feature would be her follow-up to Past Lives in late 2023. The project will be a romantic comedy, revolving around a high-end matchmaker who comes in contact with a rich man.
Celine Song made a sensational feature directional debut through Past Lives, which received acclaim from critics and fans. The film was nominated in five categories at the 81st Golden Globes. At the 96th Oscars, it has been nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. Apart from her helming duties, Song also wrote the film’s script.
