When it comes to the industry of stand-up comedians in India, then, Zakir Khan certainly has a fair share of glory for himself. He has made a name and enjoys great popularity among young people. After tons of stand-up comedy shows, he got himself a full-scale show called Aapka Apna Zakir. Since Kapil Sharma left SonyTV for Netflix India, the channel took the matter on its ego and launched a show with Zakir Khan.
The concept is still the same as that of The Kapil Sharma Show.
Now, what’s the result?
The show is being scrapped after just 6 episodes. Can you believe it?
It is such a mammoth flop that makers can’t really afford to continue it. We do realise the situation as there is simply no excitement among people about Aapka Apna Zakir.
We are also aware that even “The Great Indian Kapil Show” was barely a success, but at least Kapil Sharma has a legacy of entertainment that pulled people towards Netflix India. As for Zakir Khan, nothing really helped.
The biggest culprit in this entire situation is the total ignorance of people towards writing. People don’t value writers, and that is reflected in the poor jokes that used to be entertaining 8 years ago, but don’t work now.
Sony Entertainment had a big setback with Aapka Apna Zakir. Let’s hope that they take it as a lesson, and if the promotions and jokes are right, then they even have a great chance to run past Kapil Sharma’s show.
