The Academy Award winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is busy writing a movie based on the US Capitol Attack that took place on January 6, 2021.
Sorkin has started writing the script for his upcoming January 6 movie. The acclaimed writer and director disclosed this in a recent ‘The Town’ podcast, conducted by Matthew Belloni. He attended the podcast with popular American journalist Peter Hamby, who himself writes for Vanity Fair and Puck News.

The date January 6, 2021, is considered a stain on the US democracy. The Capitol attack on this date was orchestrated by a mob of supporters of the former US President, Donald Trump, just two months after he lost the 2020 presidential election to the current president Joe Biden. The mob behind the attack wanted to prevent the certification of the election results. According to many reports, the notorious incident was an integral part of a seven-part plan crafted by Trump to overturn the election.
Aaron Sorkin has described his January 6 movie as a quasi-sequel to The Social Network (2010), helmed by David Fincher. The film will focus on “the rise of misinformation-for-profit online” that resulted in the January 6 US Capitol attack. Sorkin is best known for writing prominent movies like Charlie Wilson’s War (2007), The Social Network (2010), Moneyball (2011), Steve Jobs (2015), and more. He has also written and directed Molly’s Game (2017), The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020), and Being the Ricardos (2021). Stay tuned for more updates.
