Due to the uncertainty brought by pandemic, Paramount Studios that had the rights to the film sold it to Netflix.
Alongside, Cross Creek pictures will be producing the film. “The Trial of the Chicago 7” follows the story of 1968 Democratic National Convention, which took a wild turn from a peaceful protest to a violent clash with the police. Abbie Hoffman, Tom Hayden, Jerry Rubin, Bobby Seale and Rennie Davis were charged for conspiring in the riot and the trial became one of the most scandalous in US history.
The ensemble cast includes Sacha Baron Cohen (Spy), Jeremy Strong (Succession), Joseph Gordon Levitt (The Walk), Eddie Redmayne (Theory of Everything), Michael Keaton, Mark Rylance and many more.
While the filming was completed before the pandemic, Steven Spielberg encouraged Sorkin to take on the project. The film had been in motion on and off for years.
The first look with a few on set photographs has been revealed as of now. We cannot wait to see Aaron Sorkin weave another intense masterpiece in his filmography.
