Abhishek Bachchan’s much-talked-about thriller movie ‘Bob Biswas‘ has skipped theatres and opted to go for a straight to digital release. Prolific homegrown platform ZEE5 announced the release date for ‘Bob Biswas’ on its social media platforms today. So here’s the crucial information – ‘Bob Biswas’ will premiere on ZEE5 on 3rd December, 2021. ZEE5 has also announced that it will launch the trailer of the film on social media tomorrow.
‘Bob Biswas’ is a spin-off film from Sujoy Ghosh‘s hit Vidya Balan suspense thriller, ‘Kahaani’. It centres on the titular character of Bob Biswas, the chilling but polite contract killer first introduced in Kahaani. Bob Biswas was played by top Bengali actor Saswata Chatterjee in Kahaani. Interestingly, the actor and character had a very short presence in Kahaani, yet grabbed maximum attention and accolades from audiences. Almost everyone who saw the film was mesmerized by the spine-chilling and riveting contract killer.
It remains to be seen how Abhishek Bachchan will fill in Saswata Chatterjee’s extremely large shoes. When the film was first announced last year just before the lockdown, numerous netizens had taken to social media to air their views on Abhishek Bachchan’s casting as Bob Biswas. Most were of the opinion that Saswata Chatterjee should have been the one to take Bob Biswas’ story forward, given how effective he had been as the dispassionate killer.
Bob Biswas features Abhishek Bachchan and Chitrangada Singh in lead roles. It is directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh, and produced by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, and Sujoy Ghosh’s Bound Script Productions.
