One of the leading actors in Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s Abigail, Dan Stevens, has teased that the upcoming vampire horror project will be a bloody and thrilling experience for the viewers. The film revolves around a group of kidnappers who capture Abigail, the beloved daughter of a dangerous underworld figure. The kidnappers demand a $50 million ransom from Abigail’s father in exchange for her safe return. However, they soon realise that Abigail is no ordinary girl. Instead, she is a vampire child who starts hunting every kidnapper one by one.
Stevens plays Frank in Abigail. He recently talked with ScreenRant about the upcoming project from Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett. He praised the duo for their unique sense of horror and comedy and why viewers should go into the theatres to watch the film. He also believes that Abigail is one of the bloodiest movies he has ever worked in.
“I think there’s probably about four times as much blood than any other movie – maybe all the other movies I’ve ever done combined. It’s also just a very particular kind of horror comedy that Radio Silence really are the masters of. I love the way they work. There’s such a sense of humor. There’s mischievous filmmaking at work there. It’s bloody, it’s scary, but it’s also very silly and very funny.”
The duo of Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett are prominent among horror fans for their work on Ready or Not (2019), Scream (2022), and Scream VI (2023).
Abigail premiered at this year’s Overlook Film Festival and received a strong response from critics. At present, the film has a ‘fresh’ score of 81%, based on 16 reviews. It stars talents like Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, Giancarlo Esposito, and Matthew Goode. It will come out in theatres on April 19.
