After a very successful yet limited theatrical run, highly acclaimed Malayalam film ‘Ullozhukku’ by Christo Tomy is now available for viewing on Amazon Prime Video.
Surprisingly Prime Video did not even bother to mention the streaming of the film on their social media, let alone promoting the film’s premiere on the platform. And this is despite the film receiving high praises from all quarters.
‘Ullozhukku’ is a poignant exploration of human relationships and societal norms and went on to garner huge acclaim and widespread positive reviews from critics and public alike specially for Urvashi and Parvathy’s exceptional performances and compelling narrative. Moreover, Sushin Shyam’s music complements the narrative and enhances the overall viewing experience.
Helmed by ‘Curry and Cyanide’ director Christo Tomy, ‘Ullozhukku’ is set in Kuttanad where during a heavy monsoon flood, a young widow (Parvathy) and her doting mother-in-law (Urvashi) waits with their family for the waters to recede, so they can hold the funeral of their loved one. But as the floodwaters rise, they are forced to confront long-buried secrets and lies that threaten their unity.
‘Ullozhukku’ stars Parvathy, Urvashi, Shebin Benson, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Veena Nair, and Alencier Ley Lopez. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Honey Trehan, and Abhishek Chaubey under the banners RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures, ‘Ullozhukku’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and this one’s a gem from Malayalam cinema you cannot miss.
