The animated film began streaming on Netflix India late last night. ‘Marcel The Shell With Shoes On’ is streaming on Netflix India in the original English, as well as Hindi languages.
Oscar-nominated film ‘Marcel The Shell With Shoes On’ first premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on September 3, 2021. It released in US theatres in June 2022, and went on to earn accolades from both critics and audiences. The film is rated a whopping 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, besides bagging nominations for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, Golden Globes and more.
‘Marcel The Shell With Shoes On’ follows Marcel, a 1-inch-tall shell, who lives alone with his grandmother, Connie, after all the residents of their town, including his family, disappear mysteriously. A guest accidently discovers Marcel amongst the clutter of his Airbnb. Fascinated by the talking shell, he films his daily activities and posts the short film online, bringing Marcel millions of passionate fans and a new hope of reuniting with his long-lost family.
The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp in his feature film directorial debut. It is written by Fleischer Camp, Jenny Slate and Nick Paley. The film is a sequel and prequel to the series of shorts of the same name written by Slate and Fleischer Camp. Jenny Slate reprises her voice role as Marcel. Dean Fleischer Camp, Rosa Salazar, Thomas Mann, Lesley Stahl, and Isabella Rossellini also star.
