‘Saudi Vellakka CC.225/2009’ is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language drama film, written and directed by Tharun Moorthy starring Lukman Avaran, Devi Varma, Binu Pappu, Sujith Shankar and Gokulan in major roles. The film is produced by Sandip Senan known for ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’.
The film is a realistic social drama filled with humour that touches on an important and pertinent issue that leaves many helpless. The story of the film is told from each character’s perspective who has a different life background. While all cast and crew gave praiseworthy performances, the surprise package in the film had to be debutant Devi Varma, who lit up each scene she was in.

The movie was released in theatres on 2 December 2022and while it received unanimous positive reports, the huge waves it generated on social media, unfortunately, didn’t seep into the box office. The movie faced stiff competition from ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey’ and then later from Hollywood biggie ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’.
‘Saudi Vellakka’ is the director’s second directorial venture after the box office hit ‘Operation Java’. Released in the heat of the pandemic, the film was based on real-life cases and portrayed investigations undertaken by a cyber cell police station in Cochin over a period of a year and a half with the help of two engineering graduates. With no big stars leading the films, the story itself is the hero in Tharun Moorthy’s films.
