Just a few hours back, globally renowned entertainment content portal Variety had revealed a list of ten international breakout stars for the year 2021. And in fantastic news for Indian cinephiles, our very own Adarsh Gourav has made India proud and found a place in the coveted list amongst other talented performers from across the globe. For the unversed, the term ‘breakout’ used in the entertainment industry generally refers to a film or an actor who becomes suddenly and extremely popular or successful.
Besides Adarsh Gourav, other international actors to feature in Variety’s aforementioned 2021 breakout stars list are Toheeb Jimoh (UK), Keung To (Hong Kong), Swamy Rotolo (Italy), Ondina Quadri (Italy), Almudena Amor (Spain), Milena Smit (Spain), Benjamin Voisin (France), Don Lee (South Korea-US), and Jung Hu Yeon (South Korea).
Adarsh Gourav had made his acting debut in Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s ‘My Name is Khan’ and later impressed us as a spoilt brat in the 2017 revenge thriller ‘Mom’ starring Sridevi in the titular role. The gifted performer shot to international acclaim after his spellbinding act as the underprivileged and cunning servant Balram Halwai in Netflix’s dark comedy crime film ‘The White Tiger’ in which he featured alongside Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao. For ‘The White Tiger’, he was even nominated for the BAFTA award in the ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ category.
Adarsh Gourav will next be seen in a friendship-based drama titled ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ backed by Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar alongside Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Besides, he is also set to star in a star-studded Apple TV Plus anthology series ‘Extrapolations’ by Scott Z. Burns. The series will also feature eminent performers of the likes of Academy award-winning actress Meryl Streep, ‘Game of Thrones’ star Kit Harington, and David Schwimmer of ‘Friends’ fame.
