Prasanth Varma’s superhero movie ‘HanuMan’ has finally hit the big screens today. The film’s basic plot follows the story of a man named Hanumanthu (played by Teja Sajja), who somehow gains supernatural powers. But his new-found powers attract the attention of a greedy man, who wants these powers at any cost.
As per some early reviews, the film has garnered some really encouraging and positive feedback so far. Overall, it is generally being called a worthy addition to the superhero genre and an engaging watch. Moreover, a lot of praise is directed towards how the makers have managed to create world-class visuals and setting and that too on a relatively limited budget.
But the rave reviews which ‘HanuMan’ movie has been getting has led to an online backlash against another Indian filmmaker Om Raut, who directed last year’s highly ambitious box-office disappointment ‘Adipurush’, which was based on the Hindu epic Ramayana and also, of course, featured the character of Lord Hanuman.
The merciless trolling is happening against Om Raut because Indian movie lovers, and more particularly Prabhas fans, apparently think that ‘Adipurush’ could have been executed the way Prasanth Varma has helmed the project.
For instance, some are even saying that Om Raut will receive more criticism in the days to come than he received when ‘Adipurush’ was released. Remarks like ‘Wherever HanuMan is being played, save one seat for Om Raut’ are also doing the rounds.
Although arguably unnecessary and unfair, this might just be the start of a more widespread trolling attack in the coming days. Om Raut is a talented filmmaker, who directed the critically acclaimed period film ‘Tanhaji’ just before ‘Adipurush’. We just hope that Om Raut works on the shortcomings, makes a grand comeback with his next directorial venture, and ultimately proves his detractors wrong.
