As concerns about the ongoing pandemic amidst cinephiles seem to be on the verge of gradually diminishing, filmmakers across India are busy with reallotting new release dates for their respective films. Joining the bandwagon is another eagerly anticipated movie ‘Major’ which has just announced that it will now release in theatres on 27th May 2022 from its earlier release date of 11th February 2022.
The massive film ‘Major’ is inspired by the life, love, and legacy of the hero of the 26/11 2008 Mumbai attacks – Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was an Indian Army officer who served in the elite Special Action Group of the National Security Guards (NSG).
The film would ostensibly narrate the events of how Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan saved the lives of many hostages during the obnoxious November 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks and eventually he was martyred by terrorists.
Telugu actor Adivi Sesh is playing the titular role in ‘Major’, which also marks his Hindi movie debut in the film directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka. The film also features proficient performers like Revathi, Prakash Raj, and Sobhita Dhulipala, amongst others.
The filming of ‘Major’ had commenced in February 2020 and comprised a total of 120 shoot days, 8 sets, and 75 locations. And now, the movie will finally release in cinemas on 27th May in Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam languages, if everything goes well.
‘Major’ has been produced by superstar Mahesh Babu in collaboration with Sony Pictures India and A+S Movies.
