After delivering two blockbuster films ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’ this year, Shah Rukh Khan is all geared up for his third film of the year – ‘Dunki’, which is slated for a theatrical release on 21st December. The highly anticipated movie has been directed by none other than Rajkumar Hirani (after a gap of five years as a director) and it’s his first collaboration with SRK. As you all know, the basic story of ‘Dunki’ ostensibly revolves around a backdoor immigration route known as a Donkey Flight, which is used by some people to settle in some foreign countries.
As per a recent report, an interesting project titled ‘The Donkey Route’ which focuses on the same subject matter of ‘Donkey Flights’, is apparently in the works at the Asian arm of the French multinational television production company Banijay. Banijay Asia has previously backed shows like ‘The Night Manager’, ‘The Trial’, ‘Dahan’, and ‘Undekhi’, amongst others.
‘The Donkey Route’ has been described by Banijay Asia founder and CEO Deepak Dhar as “a cross-border immigration story that is locally based out of Punjab. It is about people who think they can travel all the way to the U.S. on foot and it’s inspired by a true story.” So, the story and setting are intriguing.
Although it’s not officially confirmed whether ‘The Donkey Route’ will be made for the small-screen or the big-screen, but since Banijay is a television company, it’s almost confirmed that ‘The Donkey Route’ will be made in a web series format. As of now, no streaming platform has been finalized by the makers. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on that.
