Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie Prithviraj has been in the news for quite some time now. The movie at the beginning was being praised and everyone was appreciating the making of the movie “Prithviraj”. But, with good comes the bad and in a country like India, opposition for films and series from organisations and political parties is no more a new thing. Same is with the case of Prithviraj, as once again the movie is getting dragged by an organisation. Few weeks ago, news of the same kind came up for Prithviraj.
Well, while earlier it was none other than Karni Sena, now the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha has come forward and expressed its displeasure for Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie and has demanded a change for the title of the upcoming movie from “Prithviraj” into something that won’t hurt the sentiments of those who follow the warrior king. They have even set up a few rules for the movie before it releases.
The Youth Wing Head of the organisation has come forward and mentioned how this movie is an insult of the great emperor as the movie just uses the first name of the emperor. According to the organisation, the title should have addressed Prithviraj Chauhan with his full name or else, they move on to some other title. He even mentioned, now he wants the creators to change the scripts accordingly and get it approved by the organisation and also schedule a special screening before the movie’s release, so that the organisation can give its stamp of approval.
This is not the first time; the organisation has come up and opposed a film. Along with Karni Sena, they too were involved in raising their voice against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmavaat”, that saw the wrath of Karni Sena, before it release. Even before this Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha raised their voice against the movie “Jodha Akbar” and it became so extreme that they mentioned blowing up cinema halls if the movie released. Time and time again, creators and filmmakers had to face the violent wrath of the men from such organisations as they believed their versions were the “sacred ones”, while they felt Bollywood is doing nothing but tarnishing them by adding the extra “masala” to make such movies more interesting.
Not only this, the organisation like with every other organisation has dragged religion into it calling the movie an insult to Hinduism and citizens of India. Filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who has created the TV series ‘Chanakya’ before this is the director of the upcoming movie and he mentioned what the movie is actually based on. “Prithviraj” is based on an epic, medieval literature poem titled “Prithviraj Raso” by poet Chand Bardai. Besides this, the movie also uses various other excerpts from history that have a mention of the great king.
Besides Akshay Kumar, who will essay the role of the great warrior, the movie will also mark the Bollywood debut of Miss World 2017, Manushi Chillar as she portrays the role of Sanyogita. The movie is being produced by Yash Raj Films. At this point, there has been no remarks from the makers about the change in the title.
