Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest directorial film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ starring the immensely talented actress Alia Bhatt has garnered widespread critical acclaim, besides breaking several box-office records. The biographical crime drama had released in theatres on 25th February 2022. Later, it started streaming on the Netflix OTT platform from 26th April and recently achieved the feat of becoming the top non-English movie on Netflix globally.
In another exciting development, especially for audiences who have not subscribed to the Netflix OTT platform, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is all set to start streaming on BookMyShow Stream from tomorrow, that is, from 7th May onwards. Prospective viewers can either rent the film for Rs.119/- or buy it for Rs.449/-. Another good thing is that the movie will be available in the premium 4K format. It can be watched in Hindi audio with English subtitles.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is somewhat based on Hussain Zaidi’s 2011 non-fiction crime novel ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ (a chapter). The film’s plot follows the story of a woman named Ganga Harjivandas from Kathiawad – an aspiring actress who belongs to a wealthy family. But, after being deceitfully sold to a brothel in Kamathipura, she eventually transforms into a formidable power to reckon with and becomes a madame in a red-light area. The film also features Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Seema Pahwa in important roles.
Besides ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, which will release tomorrow on BookMyShow Stream, some other popular films currently streaming on BookMyShow include ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, ‘The Batman’, ‘Uncharted’, ‘F9’, and ‘Dune’, to name a few.
