With the rise in social media and streaming services, the closeness that viewers feel with their favourite celebs, along with an interest in their lifestyles, tastes and choices is at an all time high. That is the reason why shows such as Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls on Discovery channel invite well-known celebs on their platforms, solely with the intention to woo their numerous fans and discerning viewers. As per the latest reports doing the rounds, another Indian celeb has been invited to share screen space with Bear in the great outdoors. And that celeb is Bollywood superstar, Akshay Kumar.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first popular Indian figure to grace the show, spending time within the jungles of the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand with Bear. His appearance on the show had caused viewership to skyrocket to stratospheric numbers.
Looking to replicate that kind of success, the show roped in south superstar Rajinikanth next. Rajini shot for Man vs. Wild at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka just a couple of days ago. The episode is yet to air on the show and the channel’s online platforms.
Although wildlife activists are up in arms against the shooting of a commercial show in the ecologically sensitive wildlife zone, the show is going ahead with a new shooting stint in Bandipur. Apparently, Akshay Kumar will also shoot his special episode for Man vs. Wild in Bandipur.
The news was first shared by news agency ANI on its official Twitter handle, along with a picture of Akshay Kumar arriving for the shoot in Karnataka. Have a look –
