Fresh off the heels of his widely acclaimed performance in Antoine Fuqua’s 911 thriller film ‘The Guilty’ streaming on Netflix, Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly (via Deadline) in talks with explosive British filmmaker Guy Ritchie to star in a yet-untitled film. Gyllenhaal will ostensibly commence filming for Ritchie’s next film sometime later this year.
Although nothing much is known about the film’s plot and the rest of the cast members, the film, which is written by Guy Ritchie himself, will likely be in tune with the eminent filmmaker’s distinctive visual and narrative style. A style which has been the hallmark and is evident in Ritchie’s previously made films like ‘Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’, ‘King Arthur’, and ‘The Gentlemen’, amongst others.
The ‘Nightcrawler’ actor Jake Gyllenhaal was recently also in the news for his collaboration with ‘Extraction’ director Sam Hargrave for a comic book-based superhero movie titled ‘Prophet’. He is set to essay the titular role of a man called John Prophet who was subject to scientific experiments by Germans during World War II that gives him superhuman strength.
Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal’s last on-screen appearance was in Tom Holland’s superhero film ‘Spider-man: Far from Home’. The talented performer will next be seen in crime actioner ‘Ambulance’ which is being helmed by Michael Bay (The Rock, Transformers, 6 Underground). The film is set to release in the first quarter of 2022.
On the other hand, Guy Ritchie’s next film titled “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre” will reunite the filmmaker with his former collaborator Jason Statham after their slick action flick ‘Wrath of Man’. In the upcoming film, Statham essays the role of the titular super spy Orson Fortune, who recruits a Hollywood film star for an undercover mission to help their team avert a global crisis. The film is expected to release in early 2022.
