Let’s not be salty here, but we need to accept that the Censor Board performed a miracle by allowing the release of “Civil War,” especially in theaters.
On paper, there are two kinds of films: one category makes you think, and the second one makes you enjoy. Like most A24 films, “Civil War” belongs to the first one, and in a very ‘provocative’ manner. As it gains major traction in the West, Indian fans wanted to take a swing at it.
Especially with most A24 films, they don’t really get a proper release in India, and even if they are fortunate, it is slapped with a delayed release. But “Civil War” does have a golden fate, especially releasing it near an election, a bold move indeed.
Now, it isn’t a commoner’s film; the makers do know that it will be limited to a bunch of ‘intellectuals’ who are already aware of what’s going on. Thus, it won’t really change anything politically, but still, giving it a theatrical release is definitely something new for the Indian audience. Especially when something like “Monkey Man” is having a tough time releasing, still hanging in uncertainty.
PVR and INOX have been advertising heavily about the release of the film; maybe they know the potential of the film or it’s just their way to capitalize. Whatever it is, “Civil War” is releasing in India today, April 19th.
Now, let’s delve a bit into the plot.

Through it all, they are bound together by their shared mission and the unyielding pursuit of journalistic integrity in a world consumed by conflict.
